Beach trip

We are trying to make the most of our time left here in Washington. We are trying to visit our favorite places one more time. The other day when there was a break in the rain, we loaded up the kids and doggies and headed to the coast.

And what's a trip to the beach if you can't cover someone in sand?

The pups went nuts at their first trip to the beach. Look at them go!

And more change...

So this past work week I put in my notice at work so that I may prepare for our upcoming move. There is a lot to do when moving away. Did you know that I've never lived more that a half hour or so from my hometown so this move is a HUGE change. With that, I am very excited and a little scared. But really, mostly excited.

And we have discussed adding to the family as we move.... fur babies that is. I've been searching and researching the web and newspaper for just the right pups for us. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so without further delay, here are Lucy and Wilma. They are sisters, one short haired and one long.

They are simply precious. I took these pictures at the park today and just had to share.

We are off for some family fun time this evening. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Cake Boss Daughter

Some were wondering how my darling daughter created our wedding cake. It was tricky, but I did get a few pictures (with my cell phone) while she was creating this lovely cake even though she didn't want me in the kitchen. Yes, I couldn't stay out of the kitchen. I looked for excuses to come in and snap a shot here and there. Hehehe.

McKena has always had a gift or natural talent if you will in creating sweets. Making a Red Velvet wedding cake here was a first for her though. She started out baking it from scratch with a recipe off of the internet. Then, she iced it lightly with cream cheese frosting.

Next, she rolled out some fondant. She rolled it out fairly thin. With a template we picked out in the cake decorating sections at Michaels, she pushed it into the fondant to create a lovely pattern.

Then, she lay it over the cake and trimmed the excess around the base.

Last, she decorated it with ribbon, icing, beads, and flowers. It turned out beautifully!

At the dinner following, people were asking where we bought it! See- natural talent she has I tell you.

A simple wedding...

And it was lovely. The evening was spent with our family, good friends, and a good dinner.

Here was said our vows and were married at the courthouse by a judge.

Here's a family picture afterwards in the lobby. We were missing one child here but she was in our thoughts....

We went to a resturant and had dinner and visited with our good friends following the ceremony.
And my daughter (who is addicted to the show Cake Boss) made this beautiful cake for us.

Here is the artist herself- 15 year old McKena. (We are so lucky to have good kids!)

Well, there's a quick picture share. I'll be back next week with more. Have a great weekend!

Phone photos

So I was flipping through the gallery on my phone yesterday and realized that I had quite a few photos there. I had forgotten about several occasions. It was fun to go back and view them. To remember. I am thankful to have a decent camera on my cell phone for those occasions when I am in a sudden kodak moment without a kodak. lol!

Here's a little picture share-

This was a trip to Seattle in late October. It was the first pics I took with my new phone. We had stopped for lunch along the way. Please excuse the second most awful haircut I have had in my life here. It was bad. Luckily, its about grown out now.

And next is a work party we went to for my soon-to-be hubby. It was a lot of fun! His work threw a little bash 'just because' at the local bowling alley. I'm so glad we went.
And last are some pictures of this last week. It ended up snowing several days in a row here and the kids had a few "snow days" from school. Usually I am the first one out in the snow and sledding with the kiddos, however, I was sick with pneumonia. Therefore, I had to be content with the pictures my daughter took for me on the phone. I hope we see some more before spring is here!
And this last one is just a random pic of me and the boy. He will turn 18 this fall. He has grown up too fast. I will miss him terribly when we move.

Ugh!

Tissue? Anyone? Tis the season. The sniffles have been in abundance here lately. I have had pneumonia and an awful headcold to boot. No fun. Luckily it hit me the hardest and spared the kiddos.

The lovely three day weekend we had over presidents day was a lot of fun. Darling daughters best friend came to visit for the long weekend. Monday I took them shopping in Tacoma. Tons of sales to be had.

We had lunch at BJ's pizza. Their strawberry lemonade was delish!
And this is the season of change. A great deal of change is going on in my life at the moment. In 3 days I'm getting married. In three weeks the family will be going to Leavenworth for spring break. And in 3 months I will be moving from Washington state to Oklahoma.
More on that to come...
Welcome March. Welcome spring. Welcome change.
